Spirit, Craft & Passion
Fabig
Sauvignon Blanc is my obsession, my passion. I simply like to focus on one thing. I believe that only this way it is possible to understand certain wine variety and create the most ideal result. Cultivation and the making of wine at my winery aren’t any magic. I believe in logical thinking and long-lasting quality, not any current trends. We take care of our vineyards with an Eco-friendly approach, creating long-lasting sustainability.
J.STÁVEK
Our family has been making wine in Němcicky for five generations, crafting secret cuvée wines. The terroir of "Village of Nine Valleys" suits red varieties like Blaufränkisch. Our fruity rosé wines honor this unique terroir. Jan, a.k.a. Honza, champions rosé wines for their maturing potential. Inspired by fortified wines abroad, he's now one of the leading producers in the Czech Republic.
Gala Family Winery
Our ancestors instilled in us a love for vine-growing, viewing it as common sense and a symbiotic bond with nature. Since 2007, Jaromír Gala has gathered global knowledge and now returns it to his rural origins, honoring Mother Nature. With his wife Alzbeta and children, they reciprocate nature's gifts. The Gala family upholds the belief that life requires equilibrium and fine wine reflects dedicated effort.
THAYA
Our ancestors, who passed down their passion and love for growing vines to us, called it common sense, and a mutualistic relationship with nature. Wine has been thriving in Podyji National Park for hundreds of years. The river Thaya was already famous in the period before the Celts. The people of that time named it after the Indo-European word “dheu” or “flowing”. Today, we are paying tribute not only to this life-giving river but also to hundreds of years of human togetherness and the uniqueness of our wine.
We raise wine like a child. We don't shape it strictly and rigorously, but we lead it by the hand so that it matures to perfection.
— Jakub Smrčka, THAYA Winery
Sonberk
Since the 13th century, vines with twisted shapes have been common in the landscape. The ideal conditions for their growth were due to south-facing slopes and a warm climate with plenty of sunlight. This area was named Sonnenberg, meaning 'Sunny Hill'. About 1.5 kilograms of grapes are left on each vine yearly to ensure optimal energy distribution. Grapes are handpicked in multiple stages based on ripeness. Laboratory tests help determine the right sugar and acid levels in the berries. This process yields 50 to 150 thousand wine bottles per vintage, as we select only the finest grapes.
PLENÉR
My biggest wish is to create wines that can stir the mind and liven up the soul. The art of making wine is a lifelong journey. Our story started in 2016. The moment the grapes come into the cellar – that’s the most exciting time in the winemaker’s year. I know that I have only this one opportunity to maximize the potential of the grapes that we have invested thousands of hours of toil into. I neither wish to be orthodox nor extreme in my approach to grape growing and winemaking. I am trying to make wine with sensitivity and humility.
Špalek Family Winery
We are a small family organic winery striving for maximum harmony with the local nature. Our vineyards are full of life, so when you walk through the vineyards on Cow Hill, you will see blooming herbs and organisms living in symbiosis, maintaining the balance of the vineyard and enriching life within them.
Kutná Hora Wine Cellars
We make wine from royal tradition. Our natural wines enrich both the physical body and the spirit. We don´t use additives so their energy remains intact and pure. Moreover, this way we help to preserve both the natural environment and human health. In the cellars based in the former monastery of St. Ursula, in the heart of the UNESCO Heritage city of Kutna Hora, we let things happen naturally. Our wines ferment spontaneously without added yeast. We work with fine lees to protect and heal the wines, while avoiding sulphur to prevent you from having a headache.
